RedWingsBaseball.com coverage presented by
TwinsFest is an annual fundraiser benefiting the Twins Community Fund. Since its inception in 1989, TwinsFest has raised more than $3.3 million for programs and organizations supported by the Twins Community Fund. Saturday post-script: Most popular player t-shirt of the day: Pat Neshek's Wings #47 home unie replica.....rode the shuttle bus from the Dome to the Holiday Inn Metrodome with Wings pitchers Brian Duensing and Nick Blackburn...While we're name-dropping, sharing the love and providing good pub for the boys, did we mention we had a drink with Tommy Watkins Friday night, at a popular Warehouse District club?...The Wings staff enjoyed a late dinner at Zelo, Nicollet Mall......after a simple but stunning appetizer of Grilled Shrimp and Scallops, mango, red pepper and avocado, with pomegranate-ginger glaze and a delicious dinner, it was off to Bellanotte, another primo Italian restaurant that turns into ultralounge after 10 pm....New Twin Delmon Young and Twins shortstop prospect and former number one pick Trevor Plouffe were checking out the Bellanotte vibe, which included dope DJ riddims and beats that included former Purple Wave artists Alexander O'Neal and Cherelle's "Saturday Love," followed later in the same set by the adventerous pairing of "Turn It Up" by Paris Hilton (note: music producer Scott Storch is a genius) and Britney Spears' "Gimme More" (note: Britney Spears is not)....over to legendary Minny music scene hotbed First Avenue (the setting for many key scenes in Prince's "Purple Rain" film)....caught the last two songs by Love In October at the club's intimate 7th Street Entry music room....oh, the rich tapestry of cool music history those collective walls could weave....a guy who looked a lot like Morris Day of The Time seen lounging in The VIP Room...ran into Plouffe and Young again later at another E-Block hot spot...oh, the breathless trendiness of it all. Sunday morning ramblings: After checking out of the Holiday Inn Metrodome, our intrepid staffers bounded up the steps to the team dining room to enjoy Philip's Famous Coffee Cake. Rich with cinnamon and sugar, warm from the oven, it provided a soothing and tasty start to the day. So warm, so good.......we were moved to the ancient poetry form called haiku to provide our true feelings for the coffee cake: Warm morning sun Phillip, genius - he We also caught "The Killebrew of the Kitchen" readying his beef barley soup, the back end of an incredible weekend soup double play (see our Saturday report on his chicken and wild rice soup). Campbell's, beware: we will never be able to have soup from a can ever again. Post-lunch, wonderful warm milk chocolate chip cookies and and a frosty glass of milk - perfect sustenance for the long hours of TwinsFest activity. Hey, having a blog is fun! Ok, on to the photos.....
