STADIUM ORGANIST FRED COSTELLO
Fred, a Syracuse, NY native, has been offered the job as organist with major league teams including the Yankees, Mets, Rockies, 76ers and Flyers. He was featured as top sports organist on NBC's Game Of The Week and was elected to the Frontier Field Walk Of Fame in 1999. Fred's local musical involvement, in addition to night club engagements, includes his music studio and Music Associates Booking Agency, both of which he runs with his son, Terry. He is also the organist for the Rochester Americans hockey team and fills in as organist for the Buffalo Sabres.
COSTELLO MUSIC EXPO APRIL 5, 2008 The first ever Costello Music Expo, in conjunction with the Rochester Red Wings, will take place at the Great House of Guitars on Saturday April 5, 2008 from Noon until 4pm. Costello Music and owner Fred Costello have been involved in Music Instruction and Instrument Rentals at the Irondequoit landmark for over seven years. The Expo will showcase the area’s finest music school with one day specials on instruments and music lessons. The event will take place one week before Fred plays his 32nd Opening Day with the Rochester Red Wings. To celebrate, Red Wings Mascot “Spikes” will be on hand (1PM) for free autographs and pictures. Additional Red Wings prizes and give-a-ways will be available throughout the day. The highlight of the day will be a free all ages, in-store concert featuring three special acts: Fred Costello and his all-star band will kick things off at noon with a set of bluesy jazz , followed by a solo set of Rock and Roll from Hi-Risers Singer Guitarist, Greg Townson (2pm). Greg will be featuring songs from his upcoming release, "Greg Townson Sings The Hi-Risers Songbook" Finally, Costello Music Instructor Corey Bates and his band, Cruelty Free, will plug in for an electric set of material from their new release, “Head South”. Cruelty Free was recently featured on the Dane Cook soundtrack for “Tourgasm” from the popular HBO special. As a special added attraction, Victor Wooten is scheduled to make an appearance at time to be determined. Victor is the Grammy award winning Bassist from “Bela Fleck and the Flecktones”. He is currently on tour with his solo band behind the forthcoming release, “Palmystery”.
BLUES BACKSTAGE CD AVAILABLE Fred's recent recording, a "live" CD entitled "Blues Backstage," is available in local record stores or through his website www.FredCostello.com. The disc captures Fred on the Hammond B-3 organ performing jazz standards and classics with his trio in front of a hometown audience.
