JOHNNY OATES - Inducted in 2000
This catcher accomplished the rare feat of winning a Governors' Cup both as a player (1971) and manager (1988). Oates appeared briefly in 1970 before hitting .277 with 7 home runs and 44 RBI in 114 games in 1971. Seventeen years later he led the Red Wings to their eighth Governors' Cup in his only season as manager. He later managed the Baltimore Orioles and Texas Rangers.
