COACHING CAREER:

* Managed the New Britain Rock Cats during the past two seasons in the Eastern League . . . Guided the Rock Cats to wins in their last seven games of the season in 2007 while just missing the playoffs . . . Was hitting coach for Wings’ manager Stan Cliburn in 2003

*Began coaching career in Twins’ organization in 1998 at Class-A Ft. Wayne (MWL) . . . Continued role in 1999 as Twins moved their Midwest League affiliate to Quad City. . . Spent next three years (2000-2002) as a coach at Class-A Ft. Myers . . . Promoted to New Britain in 2003 as Rock Cats hitting coach . . .

 

PLAYING CAREER:

Selected by Detroit Tigers (4 th round) in 1987 (Georgia Tech). . . Made Major League debut June 26, 1994. . . Played parts of two seasons in majors with Tigers (1994) and Twins (1995) . . . Batted .276 with 74 home runs and 428 RBI in nine minor league seasons in Tigers, Twins, and Padres organizations . . . Won 1995 Triple-A batting title as a member of the Salt Lake Buzz for manager Phil Roof . . . Was a star on both the diamond and gridiron at Georgia Tech University. . Is the only Georgia Tech athlete to ever win the coveted McKelvin Award as the ACC’s athlete of the year . . . In 1995, was inducted into the Georgia Tech Hall of Fame.
